The Tray Game

Ingredients

You will need a tray with a variety of objects arranged on it. The number of objects needed, will vary depending on your grandchild’s age:

  • Age 1-2: 3 objects
  • Age 3-5: 6 objects
  • Age 7-10:10-15 objects

Description

You have probably played this at some time yourself. See if you remember!

Explain to your grandchildren that you are going to show them a tray full of objects which they are going to have to remember.

Let the children look at the tray for 1 minute and then remove or cover the tray.

Who can remember the most objects that were on the tray?

Your grandchildren can verbally recall the objects, draw pictures of them or write them down in list form.

Bring back the tray and work out who the winner is!

An alternative is to show the tray of objects and then secretly remove one of them. Now your grandchildren have to guess which object is missing.
