The two best white wines for a wedding reception

Often grand mothers enjoy drinking a white wine at the wedding reception celebration!
As with any wedding decisions, choosing a white wine can seem like yet another impossible wedding celebration difficult task.  Grannies United has therefore put this page together to simply act as a starting point for choosing the best white wine for the respective wedding.  Grannies United does not profess to be a site full of wedding wine experts, but many of the team do enjoy a glass of white wine and this page therefore represents our personal opinion on what makes the best white wine for a wedding reception.

Which white wine is considered the best white wine for a wedding celebration?
Grannies United has excluded certain very popular grapes such as Chardonnay.   This is because although the Chardonnay is extremely popular, the team do not enjoy the buttery taste that many (but not all) Chardonnay’s give.

Which two white wines do we consider to be the best for wedding receptions?
We have chosen two wines that we consider light and easy to drink for the special occasion of a wedding reception.  We have considered the fact that many wedding parties go on for a lengthy period of time.  It is therefore important to have an easy to drink wedding white wine, that can be enjoyed by the broad cross-section of guests that a wedding invites.  The two best white wines chosen are therefore (they are not in any specific order):
• Sauvignon blanc
• Pinot grigio
Each of these two fine white wines is discussed below.

Two best white wines for wedding parties: Sauvignon blanc
This wonderful white wine grape creates some beautiful white wines that would suit many a wedding reception dinner.   The grape has the ability to produce white wines that have an enormous depth.  The dryness of the wine can make it an acquired taste, but we believe it is a wonderful wine for a wedding reception party.

Two best white wines for wedding parties: Pinot grigio
This is a wonderful light white wine that is extremely easy to drink at any wedding reception party.  It is an extremely popular choice by both seasoned and apprentice white wine drinkers.  It is therefore likely to be a hit at any wedding reception, but only you know the cross-section of wedding guests that have been invited and their likely drinking habits.

Are old world white wines the absolute best for wedding reception celebrations?
It is a very personal choice as to whether the wedding reception celebration should use new world or old world wines.  This decision can be affected by where you live (eg a French lady is likely to use a French white wine for her wedding)  At grannies united we would rather spend the wedding money on a superior wedding reception champagne, since this is usually the first thing you drink on arrival at the wedding reception celebration.

Ensure the perfect marriage of the white & white wines at the wedding dinner
One important thing to consider when choosing the wedding white wine is to remember that many of the wedding guests will start on the wedding reception white wine and then move onto the wedding white wine.  It is therefore crucial to ensure the perfect “marriage” of these two wines.  If you are using a catering company they can usually also advise on this most difficult of wedding decisions.

Do you agree that these are the two best white wines for weddings?
As always we love feedback from our grand mother readers, please email us at admin@granniesunited.com if you either agree or disagree that these represent two of the best white wines for wedding receptions.
